Faraday Discussion crosses the Atlantic and VCU hosts the inaugural
FD Graduate Research Seminar

In April 2010, FD 146 on ‘Wetting Dynamics of Hydrophobic and Structured Surfaces’ took place at the historic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va., hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University.

The event was innovative: first it was only the second time a discussion had been organized in North America (the other was in Notre Dame in 1963) and second it marked the introduction of a Graduate Research Seminar designed to prepare students for the range of topics that would be covered in the 23 papers presented at FD 146.
